Street Girl
It was more like a stampede,
the ugly face of greed,
skies turned grey as the ash clouds grew
and drifted down on me and you.
Panic, another virus, she stood in the queue
me first, give me the jab and the children too.
Too late for the joggers and the keep fit freaks
the smell of death permeates the streets.
And still they parade the latest fashion
searching for food, supplies strictly rationed.
Hypnotized they worship the box
Pop idols, X factor, music that rocks.
So many lies, where is truth,
hide behind locked doors, under your roof.
They walk past the man who holds the key
the future promised for you and me.
Her eyes viewed the terrible scene,
displayed on the shopping mall monitor screen,
she gasped as the road opened wide
bodies and cars slid down the side.
people buried alive.
From her mouth a silent scream, JESUS.
Panicking crowds past the man on the street
but the woman found herself at His feet.
and He whispered “give me your hand”
She gazed in his eyes and as if on cue
the whole universe came into view.
He said - Child of God we're out of here
heaven is waiting for you.
