Hypocrisy

Luke 6 - 46

But why do you call me Lord, Lord
and not do the things I say

I could write a book on the antics of professing Christians who regardless of denomination are responsible for the empty pews, decline and disintegration of once thriving churches.   Hardly surprising both the Jews and the Moslems hate Christians, the world has witnessed appalling bloodshed by many who profess to follow Jesus,  and surely God will ultimately demand a "reckoning" for the lives of the innocents who died in gas chambers and the wicked atrocities on both sides of the denominational divide.

Jesus warned "Not everyone who says to Me Lord, Lord shall enter the Kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven and in Matthew 5 -  five times He said "You have heard it was said
.....................................but I say.     He taught LOVE not HATE,  PEACE not WAR.

Hypocrisy

I say one thing, and do another,
love myself and hate my brother.
Perhaps before I trip and fall,
your teaching Lord I should recall.

Failing this, I join the crowd,
those that hurl abuse out loud.
Inflicting pain, each hammer blow,
part of the mob that watch the show.

Humanity, wounded pride,
hold the sword that pierced Your side,
anguished cries that plead forgive,
Your sacrifice that I might live.

There can be no excuse for me,
I know you Lord, You set me free.
All my guilt and sin You bear,
in silent gaze, tortured stare.

My failure nails You to that tree,
still your love flows endlessly,
and as the dark clouds cross the sun,
You die for me, the battle won.
